Salt for Peugeot Salt Mills

Q Hi I bought the Peugeot Daman Salt and Pepper Mill from you a couple of months ago and I’m worried about refilling the salt mill with the wrong type of salt. I know it can’t be wet salt ( also called grey salt) but how do I recognise the correct type? Will wet salt always be called grey? Dry coarse salt (as stated on the Peugeot website) doesn’t really tell me much. Your help would be very much appreciated. Thanks

A Hi. Most supermarkets sell salt crystals for milling, such as Tidmans’s Rock Salt. The test is whether you can break a crystal of salt between thumb and forefinger. If you can’t break it, the salt should work fine. Don’t use flakes, though, hard dry crystals are the best.

Hope this helps

Repair on an Electric Pepper Mill

Q I have an electric pepper mill that has broken. Plastic parts were in the pepper corns. Is it possible to have it fixed? The top of the mill is silver and the button to start to grind the pepper is on the top, it also takes 4 AAA battries, Mr Bates

A Thanks for your email. Whether you can repair your electric pepper mill depends on the brand you have. You should contact the manufacturer of your brand as each is built differently with different parts. Unfortunately, the brands that I sell do not provide repair services or spares. It would be better for the planet if repairs were easier to carry out by users. You can get repairs/spares/replacement mills if the mill warranties apply, so try raise that with your manufacturer, too. None of my mills take 4 AAA batteries so I don’t think you have any of my mill brands, I’m afraid.

Good luck!
